Mini Project - Edible Image
Dalilah have been asking for cupcakes with princess edible image for ages. At last I complied, because there are some leftover batter and icing after Doll Cake Version 2 project.
Her little brother also asked for some Ben 10 characters. So, I made them two cupcakes each, with simple dotted borders.

Doll Cake Version 2
Me: Dayah's birthday is on April 12, right?
Sis: Yes!...err...why do you ask?
Me: Are you going to celebrate it? Birthday Party, Birthday kenduri, or the like? It falls on a Saturday you know, just nice....
Sis: Hmmm... there'll be a big kenduri at Cik Salmah's, my neighbour, that day... I'm sure our parents would be busy too. Next day, on Sunday, Dayah will have to attend her tuition class, and then off we shall go to my in-laws in Sentul. Ahhh, no time lah! Perhaps we'll celebrate on a small scale, just the family....
Me: I don'care whether you want to celebrate or not, I still want to bake a cake for her!
Sis: Err...errr...ok...ok, if that's what you wish, I'll discuss the matter with her father. What about the following week...
The above conversation was between me and my dear sister sometime on early April. To cut the long story short, at last we celebrated Dayah's and three others birthday last weekend. The three are my nephews (Zahin and Hafiz) and my dear SIL!
Here was my doll cake, specially made for the birthday girls.
My dear SIL also prepared her fabulous cupcakes for the occasion. Here and here were her creations for that special day.

Took me a week to finish it, starting from making the sugarpaste from scratch for the alphabets and the doll's whatchamacallit... the 'upper dress'... And then to let it dry a few days. Also, it took me three solid hours just to deco the doll's skirt. Phew!
As Dalilah, my dedicated supporter and critique, commented that my doll-cake-version-1's bum was so HUGE, I made an effort (considerably HUGE effort, because I have to spend money and precious time for it!) to achieve a smaller bum for this doll... Never mind that Dalilah doesn't know that the ladies during the Victorian era intentionally wore 'hoops' inside their skirts to make their skirts appear HUGE and fluffy!
Happy Birthday Aida, Dayah, Zahin and Hafiz! May Allah bless you!

Mini Project - Sugarpaste deco
Since I still have some leftover sugarpaste, I managed to test my skill on this cupcake deco, which I've learned from Daalia.
What do you think? Can I pass?

Quick Fix Pizza & Sugarpaste/ Gumpaste
Once in a while, if the mood is okay, and if/when the right 'people' is around, I make an effort to bake some pizza. Nowadays, making pizza is quite simple as we need not prepare the pizza crust from scratch anymore. There are pita bread, roti naan, roti arab and ready-made pratha that can be used as pizza crust. They are all available at the local supermarkets such as Giant, Carrefour and Tesco. But, I have not seen/ found roti arab at those supermarkets so far. Usually I got them from the road-side sellers near my office. In my opinion, roti arab is the best for pizza crust because even after you have baked it for half an hour, the crust still feel soft and spongy, unlike pita bread, which can turn hard as stone!
Just pour your leftover spaghetti sauce or Prego sauce on top of the crust and lump all the other delicious, yummy stuff, ie, frankfurster slices, onion, shrimp, button mushroom, sambal ikan bilis and bell peppers and top it with cheddar + parmesan + mozarella cheese and pop it into the oven. Mmmm...yummy!!
I baked three of this, the last pizza is topped with eggs (special).
And here is my first ever sugarpaste project (some say gumpaste, but frankly, I don't know the difference between both). I made it from scratch. Sooo tiring!

Happy Birthday Makcik!
This is a request from Dalilah. She wanted a cake to be given to her beloved Makcik, the person who has taken care of her since she was 20 days old. One thing good about Dalilah, my family can rely on her to remember everybody's date of birth!

Steamed fruit cake covered with chocolate buttercream icing, decorated using dropped flowers and connelly (is this spelling correct?) lace techniques.
This is the cake on the inside. I am quite satisfied with the results - fruits evenly spreaded inside the cake...
However, I still need to improve on my handwriting, and, after I had taken the pictures, I realized that I have also forgotten to cross my 't'... (Happy Birlhday) :( .... oh well....
Luckily, nobody realized it!

Happy Belated Birthday Fadlun, Zamey & Akmal!
This 6x6 cupcake set was ordered by Kak Eton for her office's potluck event. This is the first time I tried this font- 'Monosive Corsiva' for the wordings (after receiving feedbacks from my family). I think, it looks better than my previous writings-on-cakes, but I definitely need to improve on my handwriting!
Looks like I have to go back to school and practise more on my handwriting!!

Nana's Engagement Ceremony
Phew! At last it's over. Months of planning by Kak Sal and family for Nana's engagement ceremony was successfully executed yesterday. We are very happy for Nana and her fiance.
This is the cupcakes that I humbly contributed for the 'return hantaran', inspired by the English Bouquet from Mama Lea. For this, I baked butter cheesecake, decorated with buttercream icing.

This is the cupcakes inside the casing after decorated by Nana and me at her house, the night before the ceremony...

Another picture of the set of cupcakes beside the 'mini pelamin'.

Last but not least, these are the same batch of cupcakes, only decorated differently (with strawberry filling), for the guests.
Congratulations Nana and Adlan. May Allah bless you both, and please take good care of yourselves....

Fancy cookies. Dalilah's cake and chocolate cupcakes
This is a belated posting. My PC had to be sent to the 'workshop'.
Some call it decorative cookies, and some call it fancy cookies. I think it is all the same. Since the last posting, I was in the mood of doing fancy cookies. Here is some of my creations for Dalilah's Birthday... again.... (as usual, hers are always celebrated several times... very thoughtful of her to think of EVERYBODY, but makes me very, very busy...phew!). These are for her cousins and neighbours.

Bought special cookie cutters for these hehehe...
In between, Diana called to send her some cupcakes last weekend. This set of 3x3 chocolate moist cupcakes was ordered by Diana's friend, a present for another friend's birthday...
This is Dalilah's Birhday cake, shared with Ayah and Atok. Their birthday is in March, in fact, Dalilah shares her birthday with Atok Abah, 2nd March.
Actually, I had wanted to bake her a doll cake, but being her thoughtful self, she opted for this simple round cake saying "A doll cake will not be suitable for Atok & Ayah...". So sweet of her, but, there goes my chance to create my second doll cake... huhuhu..... She's just turned 8, so, a doll cake should be perfect for her, or so, I thought....
Hope I could do a doll cake for my niece....

Decorative cookies for Dalilah
I have been planning to try this baking project for months. Finally last night I managed to try it out. Since I need an occasion to try it, I chose Dalilah's birthday. She usually brought 'something' to school on her birthday since kindergarten. So, this year I suggested she bring this, instead of the usual goodie bag.
From the stories I heard from Dalilah, it seems that her friends and teachers like the cookies very much. Some even asked for second helpings! I'm glad to hear that there's no leftovers to take back home!
I used almond cookies recipe for the cookies and decorated them with royal icing. I think I need more practice on the icing... and need to be more creative with the designs...
Happy Birthday my sweet Dalilah.

Buttercheese cake again
I had some leftover cream cheese in my fridge. So, I baked buttercheese cake again but with some variation. I included the crust (such as the one as for REAL cheesecake) and poured strawberry filling on it, also like we do for REAL cheesecake. Brought it to my MIL's during the weekly visit. Everybody loves it!

Baked Macaroni with hot tuna
Once in a while I include some savories in my 'baking projects'. However, I always forgot to take pictures of those projects, mainly because they are not as pretty as the cakes. Anyway, who decorates baked savories, i.e, baked macaronis or quiches, right?
As my other (and better) half does not favour sweet stuffs, such as cakes and cookies, so, as much as possible I try to find recipes that suit his tastebud as part of my baking projects. Such as this 'Baked Macaroni with hot Tuna'. Thanks Roslina for sharing the recipe. InsyaAllah I will bake it again as my other half really likes it!

A little bit burnt, but still okay (read: can still be eaten) *smile*. Below was the leftover...
Recipe:
1 bowl (soup) of macaroni (boiled as intructed on the packaging)
1 small box of Dutch Lady fresh milk
3 pieces of bread
To be mixed:
Half bottle of mayonnise (small)
2 pieces pf capsicum (bell peppers) diced into small cubes
5 medium-sized eggs (beaten)
2 cans of hot tuna
crushed black peppers
salt to taste
mozarella cheese (grated)
Tear the bread into small pieces and soak it in the milk for a while. Mix everything and pour into a casserole dish. Bake for 35-45 minutes 175C.
So easy, right?

Cupcakes for BUG's Farewell Potluck Party
Kak Ros called last Monday to order mixed cupcakes for her colleague's farewell event. It was last a minute thing and she wanted it by Wednesday night. Gosh... I have never had any 'baking projects' as challenging as this! But, it was fun and exciting baking four types of cakes, vanilla, orange, chocolate and pandan at the same time. And, I really enjoyed designing it with my err... better half... *smile*.
This is the results....
Since Kak Ros dictated the wordings to be written on the cupcakes, I designed the theme as "BUG is going over for greener pastures...", therefore the bugs (ladybirds and butterflies) and the green grass design. Anyway, I was told that Bug's real name is Bakhtiar *smile*.
Thanks a lot Kak Ros, and wish you Best of Luck, Bug!
This is the results....

Syahirah's Birthday and Thanksgiving kenduri
This is the undecorated cupcakes. This time I'm trying butter cheese cake. Not so sweet.
Seems that this flavour is quite a favourite among my family.
Happy Belated Birthday Shira/ Shahirah!
Congratulations to Aqlie for being accepted to Sekolah Alam Shah, Putrajaya.
Both are cousins and they are two of my numerous nieces and nephews.
This time I'm trying to do other designs apart from the 'flower & girlish' designs...
The cake and cupcakes at the occasion, my MIL's house. The chocolate moist cake is by Secret Recipe, the cupcakes are from yours truly...
This is the birthday girl cutting the cake. You go, girl!

Cupcakes for Diana's Birthday and cupcakes for Haziq
The first two of the 16-piece pack of cupcakes belong to Diana. We sent them to SSP for her to enjoy them with her friends last weekend. They were less messy than a big cake or a doll cake as I had earlier planned for her.

This 16-piece pack were brought to Alor Gajah for Haziq to enjoy them with his friends.

Jojie's Birthday and fruit cake
These are outdated pictures, about 2 weeks back. The first was a birthday present for Jojie - steamed chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache. First time I tried to do the basketweave technique. Turned out ok although although the first few were a bit messy. Hope you don't notice them! (I managed to cover them with the sugarpaste flowers....hihihi!)
The second picture is my first ever baked fruit cake. This is a simple fruitcake, eggless, suitable for vegetarians.
